Orazul Energy Argentina generates electricity and commercializes
natural gas at the wholesale sales level.
Energy generation assets in Argentina are: Planicie Banderita Hydroelectric
Power Plant (Cerros Colorados) and Alto Valle Thermoelectric Power Plant. Both
plants are located in the Province of Neuquén, in southern Argentina, and the
total electric generating capacity is 576 megawatts. The business offices are
located in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
Cerros Colorados hydroelectric complex is located in the lower valley of the
Neuquén River, 60 kilometers (38 miles) northwest of the city of Neuquén. The
Planicie Banderita power plant is located at the bottom of the dam, and its
installed capacity is 479 megawatts with an annual generation average of 1,521
gigawatt-hours. In addition to generating electrical power, the Cerros
Colorados hydroelectric helps with flood control and ensures fresh water for
drinking and irrigation.
The Alto Valle thermoelectric power plant, located in the city of Neuquén, uses
natural gas from the Neuquén basin. Its installed capacity is 97 megawatts and
it has two independent units of combined cycle, each equipped with a 25
megawatts gas turbine and a 15 megawatts steam turbine. This plant also has a
17 megawatts gas turbine (open cycle). Alto Valle distributes the generated
energy to the national grid, connected to the local transmission network.
